  • Leyte Province is a highly Agricultural Island with only few established Industrial Plants. To mention the following: 1. Tongonan Geothermal Plant, located in Tongonan, Leyte, Philippine 2. PASAR, and PHILPOS located at Isabel, Leyte, Philippines, these are the only notable industrial plants that help boost the economy of Leyte province. Even though Leyte province is known to a copra generating island due to its vast coconut plantation, the province has only one or two (2) oil milling which can be found at the town of Baybay if im not mistaken. The whole province of Leyte is an Agricultural island that were only owned by a few Land lords that supposed to be covered by Agrairian Reform. But due to the connivance of some Agrarian Officials and Land Owners, Agrarian had not been implemented successfully within the province. Hence only a very few of tenant farmers have availed the benefits that the Agrarian Reform offers to the poorest of the poor that had been religiously tilling the land the whole of their lives.. Since the start of the Agrarian Reform implementations, Agrarian Reforms official had not carried out an information campaign regarding the said law, no assistance had been given to tenants most especially at Barangay levels and remotes areas, hence, all tenants were still ignorant of the law, a situation that was programmed and designed by Agrarian Officials and Land Owners/Land lords.
