Nice place to go camping, fishing or have a barbeque. The lighthouse at the tip of the point is supposedly haunted and hosts ghost walks every October.

The entire Point Lookout peninsula is one of those "not quite right" places in the world, I mostly associate with bloody battlefields, old prisons and other focal points of mass human misery. I have been to Point Lookout twice on lovely days, and get the same feelings of melancholy and unease as I have felt at Manassas, Gettysburg and Antietam.
