Historic house and farm owned by author John Dos Passos' family, and passed on to him as an adult. The Georgian-style house on the bank of the Potomac River was built in 1806, and has a 1940s wing added by Dos Passos when he renovated the property for use as his primary residence. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and includes John Dos Passos' boyhood home, located southeast of here at the intersection of state routes 604 and 610.
