This is the former launch site for Battery S-03, a U.S. Army air defense facility. Missiles were Nike-Hercules with both HE (high explosive) and nuclear warheads.

The Integrated Fire Control Center was located 3.7 miles SW at the present-day site of Horizon View Park (which see).
