This used to be occupied by Building One, a hangar of the former Sand Point Naval Air Station. It was built in 1923, and demolished by NOAA in the 1970s or 1980s. If you look at vintage photos of the old Sand Point Naval Air Station, you will see that there was once a hangar here where there is now a parking lot. It appears that all the other hangars here in the NW corner of the former Naval air base remain, although they now are being used for other purposes. One large hangar down towards the south end of the base was converted into a Navy Commissary store, but it was demolished in late 2006. The Naval Air Station was decommissioned in 1970, and Magnuson Park was created starting in about 1975.
