During the Battle of Britain in 1940, 11 Group used RAF Lympne as a satellite airfield, in support of Sector Stations such as Hawkinge and Manston. It was used by units on a day-to-day basis as required, often flights or squadrons would relocate in the morning and return to their main operating and maintenance base in the evening.
The Luftwaffe bombed RAF Lympne many times but didn't put it out of action.
As you can see several of the buildings and bunkers still remain.
