191 Peachtree (Atlanta, Georgia)

USA / Georgia / Atlanta / Atlanta, Georgia
 interesting place, postmodern (architecture)

Designed in 1990 by Philip Johnson/Burgee Architects with Kendall/Heaton Associates as a 770ft, 50-floor office tower The tower won the Building Owners and Managers's Assoiciation (BOMA) Building of the Year Award in both 1991 and 1998. Its twin towers are clad in flame-finished Rosa Dante granite with gray tinted glass. The complex includes a seven-story, 102 foot tall atrium containing 15,000 square feet of retail space, and connects to the adjacent 450-room Ritz Carlton Hotel. One striking feature is the tower's two rooftop crowns - seven full stories of interwoven arches and domes that culminate in a ring of columns that are illuminated at night.

Its lobby echoes Johnson's earlier works in New York City for AT&T.
