Built in 1838, this is the oldest school in the city and the only one left of the original schools constructed as a result of the law establishing a free public school system in Albany. It was used until school 7 on Clinton Avenue was built in 1885. It's original address was 56 Canal Street but is now 56 Sheridan Ave.
