INTERESTING PLACE,ATTUR ROAD,RASIPURAM,NAMAKKAL(DT)
It was an untamed temple in the wild in the 1980s and before alongside the Attur-Rasipuram road. This is at the foot steps of the mettala medu (beginning of the up-hill) when we go from Rasipuram towards Attur. Mettala is located at the top of the up-hill road.
This temple is in existence for a very long time, I have not seen any history or evidence, but I have heard from my grand parents who were born in 1920s approximately & I first saw it when I ever first travelled on the road as a small kid in 1975-1980.
Then the road got gradually developed, and along side the temple was also improved. More traffic lead to more people stopping by to pray. Lorries - trucks, public transport buses owned by private parties, taxis, travels vans, etc.. stop by to pray for their safe journey. In the early 2000s, nice building was built for the temple. Few shops can also be seen nearby selling what is needed for the pooja.
The description is not complete without mentioning the monkeys around there. For the people live around there, and the people who travel this way... it is an attraction, natural zoo with only monkeys. Kids and grown ups would not miss a chance to see the monkeys while travelling in bus or any vehicle.
