Rasipuram is a panchayat town in Namakkal district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a town 27 km (16.5 miles) from Salem, in Namakkal district, has a population of around 50 thousand. The town is approximately 380km southwest of Chennai, 235km south of Bangalore and 110 km northwest of Tiruchirapalli (Trichy).

Rasipuram is a historic town dating back to at least the 1st century. Rasipuram got its name from Raajapuram which literally means King's town. Rasipuram is famous for its mouth watering ghee, Handloom silk sarees and future deciding education. It is also famous for its Lord Shiva temple constructed by King Valvil Ori. It is believed that the temple possesses a secret path to the 'Arabaleeswarar temple' (Lord Shiva temple) at top of Kolli hills , which is famous for medicinal herbal plants and natural honey. The Shiva temple is said to be built by Valvil Ori in 1st or 2nd century when he ruled this area.

  • The Govt(Board) High School, Rasipuram has been one of the best schools in the State. It produced hundreds of Dr.Er, IAS, Manager, Politicians in the past. Dedicated teachers and HMs were finding priode of the faculty. A few are C Sadasivam, HM,Perumal HM, R.Ramaswamy Bsc.BT, Pulavar R Periasamy, Pulavar Mu.Ramasamy (Reddiyar), Somasundaram Chettiar (for lower forms), the teacher who instituted 1/4 anna for the best hand writing everyday.

This is the place where the mouth watering ghee will prepare,poo kadai veethi wil give u the good fresh fragrance of flowers smell throughout the street.the fragrance of the flower will remain atleast half an hour in ur nose. That is the place where the mariamman festival will celebrate in the month of ippasi in tamil calender.By celebrating the eve the devotees and visitiors will block all the corners of the main roads in the busy town for certain hours.it will take a long time to overcome from the traffic jam in that area. You will get anything in the town right from pin to Diamonds in cheap rates.U will also get the weaved silk sarees in very cheap cost with high quality. IF you get a chance to go rasipuram.Please visit all the temples surrounding in the town.

  • I am a student of board high shool,Rasipuram.I studied there up to 9th std.For school final(s.s.l.c-10th std)I left the school and joined at C.S.I.High school Salem.Now I reside at Coimbatore.Whenever I pass thru Rasipuram I try to go to my school there and I want to interact with the present teachers.But somehow I could not fulfill my desire so far.

  • namakkal is very nice place for education and also for all. but the people of this district particulary rasipuram (TK), podinaicikanpatti(PO), Onakaradu village some SC CAST people creating so many problems in our own land, don't mistake me for mentioning the cast. we don't know how to solve the problem, if we ask any thing to that people means they talk in bad words, after that we can't able to stand in that place.Please give me any suggestion for me.

  • This is very favourite city of me because of this is my birth town only the bad thing is this city is not well developed compare to Namakkal(Transport&Poultry farm), Salem(Textile) & Thiruchengode(Textile & Transport) cities, because we don't have particular industry to develop the city, People income also very limited now a days due to the good education the city getting a development rapidly apart from that nothing is there, But "I LOVE VERY MUCH MY CITY". The sorrounding area of Rasipuram farmer's are very hard worker they will cultivating something with very less water because of this area not getting good rain falls also in this tough situation also they are handling very easily we are getting the most of the vegetables through near villages only we did not depend on for the vegetables to any one. I would like to thanks to our area farmer's for given the best service to our society. I hope our city also will be well developed in one day that is very near. Thanks...
