Hosur is a town and a municipality in Krishnagiri district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the headquarters of the Hosur Taluk of Krishnagiri district. It is located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) south east of Bangalore, 48 kilometres (30 mi) north west of Krishnagiri, the district headquarters and 306 kilometres (190 mi) west of Chennai, the state capital. Hosur is known for its expanding manufacturing industries and its pleasant climate.

    Besides all the above info, Hosur is a hub for crackers and you can see the small town is filled with thousands of Bangaloreans for one month before Diwali. More than 1000 shops are permitted to sell crackers. Hosur is a mini cosmopolitan city and if you plan to stay away from Bangalore traffic, an ideal place to live. Nice climate, nice people and if you know Telugu, you have an added advantage. Some negatives are, Hosur entry checkpost which is always in a messed up codiction, no rules / regulations can control the bigger vehicles stop here for tax / rto entries. This give a bad impression about hosur when entering TN. Noone follows traffic rules and a recent statistics shows that 212 people died in road accidents from Jan to Oct 2012. Have a safe driving...
