The mighty gothic fortress (in Czech means Breznice "birch forest") was founded by powerfull Czech clan of Buzicid´s in early 13een century.
During the Husite´s wars was captured and partly demolished. Then had been several times rebuilded, mostly in rennaisance style. Last owners was since 1945 Palffy - Erdödy family members. The castle as a Czech National Cultural Heritage has been accesible to general publics.
