Bears Down Wind Farm is currently the most powerful in Cornwall and the south west of England. Bears Down opened in September 2001 with 16 Bonus 600 kW wind turbines and the capacity to generate 9.6 megawatts of power. It has the potential to supply 7,500 homes with electricity. It was developed by npower renewables (at the time National Wind Power) through a joint venture with Fred Olsen Ltd.
