Whitelee wind farm, the largest on-shore wind farm in the UK, is located about 17-25 km south of central Glasgow, Scotland. It consists of a total of 215 wind turbines, erected in two phases. Phase 1 (the northern and eastern 'lobes', commissioned in 2009) contains 140 Siemens SWT-2.3-101 turbines; phase 2 (the southwestern 'lobe', commissioned in 2012) contains 69 Alstom ECO 100 3MW turbines and 6 Alstom ECO 74 1.67MW turbines (the six southernmost ones). The combined nominal capacity of all the farm's turbines is 539 MW.
