The Black Law wind farm is located about 30-35 km ESE of Glasgow, Scotland. There are/will be at least 4 phases of construction.
Phase "A" (2006) consists of 42 Siemens 2.3 turbines. Phase "B" (2007) consists of 12 Siemens 2.3 turbines. Their combined nominal capacity is 124.2 MW, which makes this the largest onshore wind farm in the UK.
Two extensions are also in the works, with phase "C" (just north of phases A & B, construction began in 2014) to contain 23 3MW turbines, and phase "D" (about 3 km south of Shotts, construction begun 2016) to contain 11 3MW turbines, adding a further 102 MW to current capacity.

The current windfarm was built on the site of an abandoned opencast mine which was completely restored by ScottishPower during the windfarm construction programme. The former mine area is now a wet grassland, designed to attract wading birds into the area.
