I can only assume that this block was built on a WW2 bomb site as the rest of the nearby houses are Victorian.

  • No 51 Lanercost Rd was destroyed after a Doodlebug hit it in 1944. The family sleeping in an air raid shelter in the back garden were killed. Lambeth initially erected prefab housing on the site, later replacing them with flats. See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/stories/04/a3501604.shtml
