In stage-II construction of Rengali multi purpose Project a barrage has been constructed at Samal. The water released from the Rengali power house is picked up in the Barrage at about 35Km. down stream of the dam to provide Industrial water use and extend irrigation facilities on either bank of the river in an area of 3,36,400 Ha. lying in Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur & Keonjhar districts.
The length of the barrage is 533.40M having two head regulators on either side having discharge capacities of 270.00 cumecs & 140.37 cumecs respectively. The cost of construction of the barrage proper was Rs. 60.00 crores. The canal net works are under construction.
