Built in 1892 as a power plant, its services were largely replaced by building 6 in 1908. The building was converted into an occupational therapy (workshop) building in 1958 and was later used to store medical records and other assorted things.
Structurally unstable and deemed to be beyond repair, building 59 was demolished February/March 2013.
