Here, at 20 Upland Street, Auburn, Mass, in what is now the within the Pakachoag Golf Course, on March 16, 1926, Dr. Robert H. Goddard launched the world's first successful liquid-fueled rocket, which flew approximately 184 feet, reaching an altitude of about 41 feet. It was the forerunner of all subsequent space explorations with rockets flown to the Moon and planets.
