place with historical importance, fortification, closed / former military
Used to be the outermost fort of the Harbour Defense Complex, now it is privately owned. Fort Chebucto was operational during the Second World War from 1943 until 1945, when three 6-inch MK24 guns on MK5 mounts were located here. Very little remains to be seen today. Located in Duncan Cove was the Outer RDF fire-control radar. The Lower Harbour Naval Signal Station was located nearby at Camperdown, near Portuguese Cove.
