South Gwinnett High School, which combined Snellville and Grayson High Schools, first opened its doors in the fall of 1957 with 300 students in grades 9 through 12. There were 45 juniors, 86 sophomores, and 114 freshmen. The faculty consisted of 13 members, including the principal.
The school, whose colors are blue and gray and whose mascot is the Comets, has seen numerous additions over the years.
