Name Origin: Rockdale Baptist Church, which was named after the granite strata that rests under the county's red clay top soil.

County Seat and Largest City: Conyers

County Area: 131 sq. mi. (339 km. sq.); 158th largest county in Georgia.

Rockdale County is the 2nd smallest county in Georgia. The county was created from parts of other counties, including Dekalb and Newton counties, and is shaped like a check mark.

Rockdale County only contans one incorporated city: Conyers. At one point, the communities of Lakeview Estates and Millstead were also separate cities. Lakeview Estates is now unincorporated; Millstead is now a part of Conyers.
