Notes: This building housed an air compressor driven by a horizontal water wheel. The compressed air was used to power an adjacent Silver reduction mill ( to concentrate silver ore ) and was also used to power machinery in surrounding mines. Once a town of 400, Crytal now lies along a fairly difficult 4wd road, and the power plant is considered one of the most photographed buildings in Colorado.
