village, community
Galley Common is a former mining village located approximately 3 miles (5 km) west of Nuneaton town centre. Since the closure of local coal mines and extensive housing development in the 1980s, Galley Common has to a large extent become a suburb of Nuneaton.
Although the area is contiguous with Stockingford and Whittleford, direct vehicular access is only possible via Chapel End to the north or Robinson's End to the south; this relative isolation means the area retains somewhat of a village atmosphere.
