Stockingford is a large suburban area in western Nuneaton. The historic core of the area dates for the most part from the 19th century, when much of the area was common land. In George Eliot's work "Janet's Repentance", 'Paddiford Common' is based on Stockingford.

The area saw extensive housing development in the 1930s and from the 1960s onwards.
