The National, formerly First National Bank Tower, is a 625 foot, 52-story office building located in downtown Dallas, Texas. Upon its completion in 1965, it was the tallest building in Dallas until 1974 when the Renaissance Tower was completed. At night, the building lights up in white vertical stripes from top to bottom, all along the face of all vertical sides.

The building lies adjacent to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Akard Station. In January 2010 the building was closed due to low occupancy rates.

In 2020 it was reopened as a mixed-use building containing a hotel, apartments, offices, shops and restaurants.

  • I hope the City insists in maintaining the vertical lights on the building which can now be LED as a negotiating tool for the redevelopment tax incentives. I would not even mind paying for the electric bill for the vertical lights which is really an asset to Dallas' nighttime skyline and envy of cities all over.
