The Great Northern Railroad Depot was built in 1906-1907. It functioned as a passenger terminal until 1986. After standing vacant for nine years, the Great Northern Restaurant & Brewery opened in the building in 1995. After that closed in 1997, JJ's Bistro and Brewery opened in the building. It closed in 1998. In the spring of 1999, the White Earth (Minnesota) Band of Chippewa Native Americans opened the business under the name Great Northern Restaurant & Brewery. That stayed open until 2001. In 2004, the Great Northern Restaurant & Brewery reopened, but it closed in 2005. In 2007, a bicycle company called Island Park Cycles moved into the building and it was renamed Great Northern Cycles.
