Kalam is a beautiful village at the junction of Utror and Ushu rivers which combine here to form the main Swat river. Currently Kalam is a popular tourist resort. There are many riverside restaurants. The village has a 300 year old mosque which boasts some beautiful wooden carving in its framework. There is a Pakistan Tourism hotel on a high terrace to the west. Roads go on from here up the Utror and Ushu vallies. Nearby hills support a lot of forest with some rare wildlife. Fishing in the rivers is very good.
