hotel, restaurant, cafe, bar, congress centre, 1904_construction

This hotel was originally constructed in 1904 by the English architect William Walcott. At that time is was called the House of St. Andrew's. Coats of arms of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland over the entrance were not disturbed by subsequent tenants of the hotel.

After the 1917 revolution, it was a woman's dormitory, and in 1970 - a hotel for party elite: only "favorites": celebrities, Russian and foreign businessmen, scientists and artists were permitted to stay here.

In 1991 the hotel ownership passed the joint Soviet-Austrian enterprise "SP's visit." The Austrians gave the hotel the name "Marco Polo in Presnya," as all the hotels in the chain were known as Marco Polo. At the end of the 90s the Austrians were forced to withdraw from the project. However, the name remained.

Good comfortable hotel in a quiet center of Moscow.
