Opened in 1957 as the most luxurious hotel in the Soviet Union with over 1000 rooms. Was the world's tallest hotel until the construction of the Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta in 1975. The hotel reopened in 2010 after three years of renovations and restoration. The 34-story main tower is now a 500-room luxury hotel. Though it joined the international Radisson chain, it still retains the famous Hotel Ukraina name as well. Both names now hang over the hotel's entrance.
The two 11-story rear wings of the building contain apartments, in which a number of famous Russians have lived. They are marked with plaques as tagged below.
