The center of modern Mexico City was built on top of the center of the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan. The Templo Mayor was ignored until recently when, during construction work for the city's Subway in the 1960s and 1970's, it was excavated and is now open to the public. The Templo Mayor complex also includes a museum www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/archaeologists-uneart...
