Ruins of a prehispanic city, thought to have been build by the teotihuacanos, a culture related to the zapotecos. At it's height (c. 500 AD), Teotihuacan had hundreds of thousands of inhabitants. When the Aztecs arrived in the Anahuac Valley, the city had been abandoned so long that even its name had been forgotten. The present name was bestowed by the Aztecs, and means "the place where men became gods."

  • i love ruins of most kinds and would love to go here some day but i hate the heat. i know it never gets cold in mexico but can anyone tell me the coolest time of day and year to go?
  • I was here April 15, 1985. The weather was comfortable to real hot, depending on local conditions. Probably early January would be cooler, But don't let the weather stop You. The history of this country was of great interest, and the people were courteous and helpful. This is a trip I remember with great fondness.
