Manukan Island

Malaysia / Sabah / Kota Kinabalu /

Manukan is part of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and it is the most well-known among locals and also the most developed. It is shaped like a boomerang. Visitors can stay on this island overnight and by dawn an unforgettable sunrise can be enjoyed. It can be seen from the city centre, and any areas south of that. It is blocked from the northern parts of KK by Tanjung Sindian of Gaya Island. There are a few trails around this island, and there is a point where visitors can enjoy sunset, simply called "The Sunset Point". The southern tip of the island is a rocky area and there are two trees there which always become photography subjects of visitors to the island.

  • Most chosen one, over crowded by taiwanese tourists, used to be very beautiful, with crystal clear water and fishes swimming around. Now the condition is a little deteriorate due to little maintenance. But its worth visit.
  • Paradise! I've yet to make a trip there.
