Hampton Inn Times Square North

USA / New Jersey / West New York / Eighth Avenue, 851

125-foot, 11-story Mid-century Modern hotel completed in 1963. The main facade on the avenue is clad in aluminum and red brick, with the north and south facades on the side streets clad in beige brick. Both of the side facades have no openings, and patterns of small, thin, vertical accents; the south facade also has a large Hampton Inn sign near the top. The main, east facade spans eight bays, each with a pair of double-windows (unevenly set, with a wider pane toward the center of the bay and a narrower pane at the outside); the window pairs are separated by an aluminum panel at the center of each bay. Thin, vertical mullions divide the bays, and brick spandrels separate the floors.

The ground floor has a recessed, central main entrance framed in rust-colored granite, with glass doors and a metal canopy. The three bays to the south have open parking garage entrances and exits, with metal paneling above. The four north bays have glass-and-metal storefronts, occupied by a T-Mobile wireless store. The rear, west-facing facade matches the east facade above the ground floor, interrupted in the middle by a beige-brick core that extends further back and up above the roof line. The hotel contains 300 guest rooms.
