In 1869 Craiova landlord Popovici Constantin Dima set up the school for girls in the building of the Metropolitan Street Firmilian No.14 - Craiova.
The school worked with the same profile, particularly until 1939 and under the state until 1949.From 1949 and until 1955 it was "average school technique roads and bridges, and in 1953 established the school addition and Professional Auto mechanics and electricians who prepared the car, both full time and the evening classes.
In 1964 the School became Group Professional School Auto Racing School since it was established and the school car foreman.
In 1974 the Working Party was established Industrial High School Auto Racing no. 4.
From 1953 until 1990 the school was under the guardianship of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, by Central Auto Repair Bucharest, and locally by Enterprise Auto Repair - Craiova.Since 1990, by giving such as the Center for Auto Repairs and Maintenance Enterprise by Craiova, to sustain material or even formal school, High School Auto no. 4 turned into "Traian Demetrescu". The name was given in memory of Craiova poet whose statue is near the school premises.
