Mahanavami dibba...Domingo Paes' and Fernao Nuniz's (Portugese Travellers) accounts clearly reveal the significance of Mahanavami Dibba. It used to be the central platform from where the Kings of Vijayanagara and their vassals viewed the might of their military strength and also Dusserah festivities. Nuniz, at length, described how Achyuta Raya (successor of Krishna Deva Raya) behaved while on Mahanavami Dibba.
It is a short steppe pyramid made primarily from granite interspersed with Green Schist. The entire structure is covered with numerous statues, artistically carved with themes such as the huntress, the hunting oarties, royal elephants, army and King's possession.
