It is a high mountainous pass in the central Greater Caucasus crest, on the South Osetia-Russia border. It is crossed by the Ossetian Military Road, a highway that links Kutaisi, Georgia, with Nalchik, Russian Federation. 2,911 m.

The Road is closed more than 20 years, and has no official crossing point. Duo to bad political situation it is no possible to open the border here for tourists in nearest future.
