Wheeling Island, part of the city of Wheeling, WV. Island is in the Ohio River and is the west terminus of the historic Wheeling Suspension bridge. Island has suffered numerous Ohio River floods. Currently popularity based partially on Gaming Casino also known as Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center. Island has one of the rare Interstate Zero Exit numbers (on Interstate 70).
The three mile long and one mile wide island has also been designated an Historic District and contains an extensive collection of late 19th and early 20th century residential buildings.
