  • Pasir Panjang is a lovely stretch of sandy beach on the southwestern coast of Penang island. Formerly, the only way to reach Pasir Panjang was through a dirt track which can be entered using a motorbike or bicycle. Since then, the track has been widened and tarred so that cars and vans can enter as well. Pasir Panjang has since become a popular picnic spot among the locals. Unfortunately, it was also one of the places where some lives were lost when the tsunami of 2004 hit the area.
