Indira Gandhi International Airport (IATA: DEL, ICAO: VIDP), originally called Palam Airport is an airport located in New Delhi. The airport has been named after former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The airport is second busiest in India in terms of passengers carried per annum serving 23 million passengers in 2007 and as per the survey by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and it is predicted to become the busiest airport in India by 2010. It has already overtaken Mumbai as the busiest airport in South Asia in terms of aircraaft traffic movements per day, while Mumbai is the busiest airport in terms of passengers carried anually-- a title also expected to shift to Delhi Airport.
In preprations for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the airport is undergoing major upgrades. The airport is currently privately managed by Delhi International Airport Limited.

Terminal 1, which has an undetermined completion date
Terminal 2, which was completed on May 2, 1986.
A third terminal is to be constructed by 2010. It will cater to 35,000,000 passengers per year. A 4th and 5th terminal would be built after 2010 forming a U-shaped building. A new cargo terminal would be built too.
It also has two runways (one 12,500 feet and the other 9,229 feet). Third runway of 4450 meters (14460ft.) is under construction and is expected to be operational by April 2008.
