Richard Attenborough lived in Leicester from 1932, when his father became Principal of University College, Leicester. His mother, Mrs F.L. Attenborough, was the president of Leicester Drama Society for several years in the 1930s and the young Richard acted in many productions at the Little Theatre from the age of eight.
