Imogene Pass is a mountain pass in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. At 13,114 feet, Imogene Pass is the second highest drivable pass on a maintained road in the United States, behind Mosquito Pass in Colorado (13,186 ft.). The traversing road connects Camp Bird Road, from Ouray, to Telluride. It is home to an annual foot race from Ouray to Telluride, held after each Labor Day. It was also home to the highest military installation in the United States, Fort Peabody, which was constructed to prevent miners from crossing the pass during a labor strike.
