Ghost town of Gladstone, location of the mill for the Gold King Mine started in 1887. In 1959, this mine and the Sunnyside Mine were connected with the American tunnel and operated until 1985. It was reopened a few more times, but was closed for good in 1991, laying off 150 miners. www.narrowgauge.org/ncmap/excur2_gladstone.html and www.ghosttowns.com/states/co/gladstone.html
