3 World Trade Center (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / New York City, New York / Greenwich Street, 175
office building, skyscraper, world trade centre, 2018 construction

Three World Trade Center is a 1,079-foot, 80-story office building completed in 2018 for Silverstein Properties. Designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, 175 Greenwich is at the center of the various buildings around the WTC Memorial site. As a result, it stands centrally across Greenwich Street from the main axis formed by the two reflecting pools of the Memorial. The design of the tower addresses this central position and accentuates the building's verticality relative to the Memorial site. As suggested in the World Trade Center Master Plan, this verticality—relative to the adjacent and smaller building at 150 Greenwich Street—is also accentuated by the stepped profile of 175 Greenwich Street.

The tower is structural-expressionist in style. The exterior exhibits a load-bearing steel lattice and a curtain wall of steel and silver-blue glass.

The antennas that were supposed to cap each corner were not included in the final plan due to supposed budgetary reasons, with an alleged $16 billion missing in the project due to overrunning and other reasons. One wall of the lobby contains "Joystick", a 46-foot-wide (14 m) mural by James Rosenquist. The building serves as the New York City headquarters of McKinsey & Company. Other offices are occupied by Hudson River Trading.

175 Greenwich Street is the address for a new skyscraper to be erected as part of the World Trade Center reconstruction in New York City. The office building has also been referred to as World Trade Center Tower 3 and will be on the east side of Greenwich Street, across the street from the original location of the twin towers that were destroyed during the September 11, 2001 attacks. Pritzker Prize-winning architect Sir Richard Rogers was awarded the contract to design the building, which will be 1,155 feet (352 m) tall. The four spires in the design would give the building a pinnacle height of 1,255 feet (383 m).[1] Since spires are included in the official height of a building, 175 Greenwich Street would stand two meters taller than the Empire State Building to become the third-tallest building in New York City. The total floor space of the building is anticipated to include 2.0 million square feet (186,000 square meter) of office and retail space. Excavation for the new building is expected to commence in 2007 and the building will be completed by 2011.[2] The structural engineer for the building is WSP/Expedition Engineering Ltd.[3]

In the May 11 Daily news article Tower 3 may be replaced with a 5 story stump to hold the place for the tower to be built later on. This plan change can result in a 2 year delay. REBUILD WTC TWIN TOWERS !!!!
