Just a short walk off of Route 10, there are remnants of an aqueduct that went over the Farmington River. The aqueduct for the Farmington Canal was in use during the first half of the 19th century. It's since been dismantled, the rocks being used to build homes in the area (possibly in Plainville). Up until the 1930s-40s, part of the Aqueduct pillars were still in the river. There are several interesting plaques with pictures describing the history of the Farmington Canal aqueduct. A small parking lot is located on Route 10. This is a very interesting place!
