military, historical layer / disappeared object, target (military)
Gualala Point was used during World War II as a dive bombing practice target for Navy pilots flying out of NAAS Santa Rosa. Prior to World War II, the land south of the Gualala River had remained undeveloped and was primarily used for ranching. The area north of the Gualala Point consists of Gualala Point County Park and has been developed for recreational purposes. The area at Gualala Point is now a community called Sea Ranch, which consists of a housing development and a golf course. Ordnance has been discovered within a one mile radius of the former Stewart's Point practice bombing target by local area residents during the past 25 years."
