Eskimo village Uelkal. The most western settlement of Inuit in the world.

Located on Cape presenter far from the sea, in Iultinskom area.
The population - 258 residents (2002), of which 202 indigenous rights.

From the Eskimo language «uelkal» translates as «jaw whale». Self of the people "Inuit", which means "real people" or the "right people". Inuit call them American Indians.

On the outskirts of the village Uelkal are the remains of a military airfield runway, built during the summer of 1942 for pergonki Lend-lizovskih aircraft supplied by the U.S. government in the Soviet Union in wartime.
