This is the cooling tower for unit 2--it is of the more modern open waterfall type in contrast to its neighbor. It releases waste heat in the form of water vapor to the environment. No pollutants or radiation is released by the cooling tower. At the time this photo was taken, unit 2 was shut down for refueling, judging by the trees it was probably October-November. The lack of vapor coming from the tower is the only major outward indication that a plant is not operating.
