Browns Ferry has several wooden slat towers to cool water used for electricity generation by running it over the sides and exposing it to ambient temperatures. These structures are perhaps 70 feet long by 30 feet wide and about 30 feet high. This contrasts with the stereotypical nuclear plant cooling tower more like a huge concrete cylinder drawn in near the middle.
