Established in 1788, Allegheny County is the second most populous county in Pennsylvania, and contains the majority of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area, as well as the City of Pittsburgh itself. The county is home to just over one million residents, as well as two towns, four cities, 41 townships, and 85 boroughs.
